What is the use of program IKJEFT01?

Post by Supriya Pathak »

Hi,

I have seen so many times, on forums, the use of utility program IKJEFT01. But what is the use of this utility actually?

Thanks.

Hello,

Once upon a time, there was just (usually) TSO whenever you wanted to interact with the mainframe via a terminal. IKJEFT01 (and for that matter IKJEFT1A and IKJEFT1B are) is a different way(s) to invoke TSO in batch. Siad that, IKJEFT01 is the TSO/E program. As a programmer, you use it whenever you wish to perform a TSO function within a batch job. IKJEFT01 also allows you to run programs written in Command List (CLIST) and/or TSO/E REXX. Optionally, you can also invoke other environments, such as ISPF, allowing you to run ISPF Dialogs in a batch environment. DB/2 commands are usually invoked via IKJEFT01.

Hope this helps.
Thanks,
Anuj
