Find which program calls the COPY?

Hi,

We've a code that is copied into Cobol programs using: COPY COPYBOOK.. On a later stage, is there a way using which I can find out the name of the program that this code has been copied into?

One way is to use ISPF's SEARCH FOR feature (3.14) against source lib. Search for "COPYBOOK". But is there way using control blocks itself?

Thanks,

look at the ISPF members parts list option...
it will cross reference copybooks and subroutines/functions calls

You cannot find programs using a copy book using control blocks. Control blocks are system areas that contain task-related data; as such the control blocks would only be relevant when the program is being compiled, and only for the one program being compiled. The system would not be aware that 500 other programs use the same copy book as it is only compiling one program which uses that copy book.

As Enrico suggested IIRC there is a similar option in SCLM too

What you ask about is often called Impact Analysis. Different organizations have different ways to address this.

Ask your configuartion management people how/if this is done in your organization.
