I've some knowledge of working with VSAM with COBOL. But at this new company I've seen a very different way of using VSAMS. Like they call it as TBX tables and they have created screens using which they set-up the values in them. They are system wide tables. Have never seen VSAMs being used ...

Checking the Data existence in a file.
For a file having just one row of data if ever, is of FB andLRECL 80. Along with that if the file is empty, I need to check if the file has some data. But the problem is that spaces are not considered as data.
