Job Description: Senior Analyst/Developer

Northern Trust has established a new site in Pune as an expansion of our highly successful Northern Operating Services Pvt Ltd operations center in Bangalore where we currently employ over 3,500 partners. We have established a Technology Development Center in our Pune location. We have exciting growth plans for the new center and partners from the center will be collaborating with their overseas counterparts in delivering technology solutions to some of the most complex business problems. Major Duties

Interacts with partners and/or clients to determine business automation needs.
Provides business unit partners with ongoing system guidance; acts as a troubleshooter.
Reviews and analyzes existing system enhancements and recommends modifications as needed.
Prepares materials and manuals and provides training to partners.
Prepares project phase reports, including requirements, feasibility, definition, and design. May also provide input to availability reporting.
Directs and performs prototyped systems development and solutions.
Provides project support and project planning; develops test plans and user acceptance criteria. May also track bullet proofing tasks.
Communicates with various business areas and outside vendors, consultants, and clients regarding automation needs.
Develops or maintains computer programs including designing, coding, testing, debugging, and installation as needed.
More technically sound in area of expertise and has broader knowledge of other areas
Delivers a work product that requires less revision
Able to facilitate discussions and reach decisions

Knowledge/Skills

Candidate must have:

Excellent oral and written communication skills are required
Good SQL Knowledge.
Expert in COBOL, JCL, DB2 on mainframe.
Exposure to ETL, XML, SQL Server DB, test driven development, Continuous Integration, Agile development experience is a plus. These are some of the technologies and techniques the candidate will be working with while on the team.
Analytical and problem solving skills for troubleshooting are required
Preferred/ Recommended:

Comprehensive knowledge of design patterns
Knowledge of current web design patterns and technology, especially MVC, as well as patterns for data integration and data consumption
Solid communication and collaboration skills including presentation skills.
Ability to create & present architecture diagrams and presentations
Ability to identify, describe, and document business needs and research technology capabilities to meet those business needs
Demonstrated experience designing solutions to deliver complicated web-based content where response times are critical.
SCLM required, Git/TFS 2010+ experience is a plus
Several years of experience scripting in a mainframe environment
Several years of experience using SQL including SQL tuning and access path analysis.
Use of XML for data transfer and manipulation
Use of messaging protocols and concepts behind messaging
Continuous integration e.g. Bamboo is a plus

General
Self-starter and works effectively with minimal direction
Ability to work in a team atmosphere
Preferred prior extreme programming / agile Scrum experience.
Test driven development / Acceptance Test Driven Development
Ability to lead design, architecture, guide team
Ability to work across multiple technology stacks.
Experience

6-8 years IT experience
A minimum of 2 full system development life cycle implementations
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science. Master’s Degree is a plus.
Progressive experience as a senior developer or Architect in large IT projects
Experience using Relational databases such as DB2, Oracle, Sybase or SQL Server
Experience with messaging solutions such as MQ/JMS
Experience with Markit EDM 10.x is a plus
Derivatives (OTC & ETD) Capital Markets experience is a plus
Asset Servicing/Management experience is a plus.
