Hi,

In an article related to the chargeback, it was said that "Print" is one of the main consumer for the internal chargeback at any shop using mainframe. But then thy did not mention much about Print. I have been searching all over but not much help, what exactly they meant by "Print"?? Does some one by chance can make a guess? :)

In the past, most mainframe shops printed a LOT of reports. The amount of printing has dropped quite a bit over the last few years, but there are still plenty of shops that print reports (consider a bank printing statements for 500,000 customers -- if the average is 3 pages per statement, that is 1,500,000 pages). Printing such reports requires cases of paper, ink, and high-speed printers -- all of which are not cheap. "Print" in charge back plans refers to these costs; it is usually a per line or per page charge.
