Assuming that we have a set-up in which the front end is written in .Net and the backend is having VSAM files. Now for a real time interaction at the front end what is required as a set-up? Would you use XML or MQ to transfer the data and why you chose your option?

That was the question, can someone please guide to answer that question?

the question as asked does not make any sense...

XML is the container
MQ is the truck

Another interviewer pretending to know about technical matters.  Unless the intent is to discover if the interviewee knows the difference between XML and MQ?  MQ is one of many ways to transfer data between systems while XML is a way of encoding the data in a sequential file / data set that allows meta-data to be included.  Comparing them directly makes no sense, as was pointed out.

But if we need to transfer the data from mainframe to distributed environment having only MQ set-up in place will work?

You have been given the answer to that question twice by two different people. Why do you want a third reply?
