Pros and cons of multicloud?

Hi,

What are the pros/cons of a multicloud, in general?

Apart from the above question, hopefully someone might have some inputs on the the thought process I have. It looks to me that multicloud may actually be a bit redundant. Any benefit of having data, infrastructure etc. in multiple places, I think could arguably be much better if it had been by just one vendor, hosting what needs to be hosted in separate clusters of servers/storage, no? This gives you the benefit of having all the under the same vendor and specially without the risks of too great a reliance on any particular thing...

Multicloud will be more expensive since each vendor will charge for its cloud. It also requires additional work to ensure the data is being fully replicated in each cloud environment, and that means additional operational expense to put the data into each cloud. You will gain some redundancy but you won't know how much since (by the very definition of a cloud) you won't know where your data is stored and multiple vendors may have their data stored in the same physical location (where physical location could mean the same data center or the same building or the same city).
