Hi,

How does JESMSGLG, JESJCL and JESYSMSG differs from each for a particular job? JESJCL shows the JCL but other two seems to convey the same thing? Is there any reason that they are categorized differently? :?

JESJCL shows the JCL. JESMSGLG is the job message log while JESYSMSG is the system message log. While these two will usually be the same, there can be times when they are different. Don't ask me for an example of when they are different, as I don't have one handy.

A simple browsing of each would have shown you that they are different from each other. JESMSGLG contains the console messages issued for the job although some might not actually go to a physical console (not sure about that) and JESYSMSG shows the dataset allocation messages, and other information, issued for each step; some of these could be messages that did appear on the console but most of the allocation/deallocation messages do not appear on a console.
