Tool to Receive Datasets Automatically under z/OS System
Tool to Receive Datasets Automatically under z/OS System
Greetings, Is there an tool or Product that would allow me to setup Starting Task where it would automatically receive the datasets from Users and then place it under certain HLQ on z/OS System?
I have tried using MVSRECV tool (CBT) but it continues to crash under latest releases now and would like to explore if there is an Product now available that would satisfy our requests.
Thank You in advance.
Regards,
Jasi.

Re: Tool to Receive Datasets Automatically under z/OS System
why not have the users FTP the files themselves,
or Your setup uses the TSO IDTF XMIT/RECEIVE ?
IMO much simpler to FTP things
in what file is the MVSRECV that You are talking about ?

When I tell somebody to RTFM or STFW I usually have the page open in another tab/window of my browser,
so that I am sure that the information requested can be reached with a very small effort

Thank you for the Response and Yes I agree, FTP would be an ideal if it is matter of only few datasets but we have many z/OS and many z/VM Systems that sends the Files over to z/OS and that would be a bigger task to migrate to using FTP Process.

Re: Tool to Receive Datasets Automatically under z/OS System
How are the users sending their data? What kind of data is being sent? How many data sets / systems are involved?
Your post lacks much information that would help us.

Re: Tool to Receive Datasets Automatically under z/OS System
HI Sorry for not providing additional data but here's some info:
- We use RSCS and NJE Extensively and they are all connected - zOS and z/VM Systems
- Every z/OS and z/VM Systems generates information on their Environment (e.g. IPL information , Userids Information, catalog information, Configuration Information from each System) and sends it to the Hub System where all Information is stored
- We have approximately 150 total Systems of z/OS and z/VM Guests and Hosts
Hope that helps.
Thanks in advance.
