Site Update 15: BBCode "Spoiler".

Post by Anuj Dhawan »

Hi,

Some of you might have used it on other boards possibly. What it does can be explained using the below examples:
Show Code

Code: Select all

***************************** Top of Data ******************************
THIS IS TO SHOW HX LINE COMMAND.
ECCE4CE4ED4ECDE4CE4DCDC4CDDDCDC44444444444444444444444444444444444444444
3892092036028660870395503644154B0000000000000000000000000000000000000000
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
THIS IS NOT TO SHOW HX LINE COMMAND.
**************************** Bottom of Data ****************************
Without Spoiler:

Code: Select all

***************************** Top of Data ******************************
THIS IS TO SHOW HX LINE COMMAND.
ECCE4CE4ED4ECDE4CE4DCDC4CDDDCDC44444444444444444444444444444444444444444
3892092036028660870395503644154B0000000000000000000000000000000000000000
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
THIS IS NOT TO SHOW HX LINE COMMAND.
**************************** Bottom of Data ****************************
The format of spoiler is:

[spoiler={INTTEXT}]{TEXT}[/spoiler]
  1. where {INTTEXT} is the text you want to show with "+" button -- so in above "show code" is replaced by {INTTEXT}.
  2. {TEXT} is the text you want to spoil.
Thanks,
Anuj

MY BAD LOOKING SPOILED CODE
some spoiled lines
more spoiled lines

Code: Select all

some coded lines
more coded lines

I like the Idea ...
but why the spoiled lines do not come out green on black ??

:spoiler=MY SPOILED CODE:
some spoiled lines
more spoiled lines
:/spoiler:

You should find a way to document that spoiler is a tag like the quote tag
that preserves the inner tags
MY GOOD LOOKING SPOILED CODE

Code: Select all

some spoiled lines
more spoiled lines

so that to spoil a code snippet the TS has to use a double set of tags spoiler+code

I found out after editing Your post

hard to find out for those that cannot edit a BTDTGTTS topics

just left the history of my attempts and logic
cheers
enrico
When I tell somebody to RTFM or STFW I usually have the page open in another tab/window of my browser,
so that I am sure that the information requested can be reached with a very small effort 8-)

Thanks for the feedback Enrico.

"Spoiler" is not meant only for codes, it can be applied to anything - for example it can be put on a "quote" too:
See what Enrico has spoiled

Just read the history and I should add more explanation for this. I'll do it in a while...

"Nesting of spoiler" is not yet working - possibly I'll find a way of doing it.
Thanks,
Anuj
