Is it PKZIP of ZIP390?

Post by alpna »

Hi,

I get the below message in the SYSPRINT of my job:

Code: Select all

ZIP001I ZIP/390 Version: 6.9.8e by Data 21, Inc. (c) ............. 06:34:08
ZIP001I OS: z/OS 02.01.00 Running: PKZIP
this confuses me whether it is ZIP390 or PKZIP?

ZIP/390 is a product from Data 21 that is very compatible with PKZIP, which is a product from PKWARE that has a version for the mainframe. You would need to contact Data 21 to find out what the message about PKZIP means.

I came to know that they are using ZIP390 only and not PKZIP. The site support group had not had answer to the question about the message and asked to contact the vendor. I could not get the contact yet.

When I tell somebody to RTFM or STFW I usually have the page open in another tab/window of my browser,
so that I am sure that the information requested can be reached with a very small effort 8-)
