can DB2 interface with IMS DB?

Post by Ram Charan »

Hi,

I have not work with IMS ever. Had looked at some programs but as such never worked much with it. I was just thinking that can DB2 interface with IMS DB? And can it work with IMS DC also? Curious to know, if DB2 can operate with IMS database.

If anyone of you here worked on any project have interfacing DB2 with IMS then it would be great help if you please provide any pointers on the same.

The short answer is yes; yes IMS DB and DB2 can be used in a single COBOL program. The long answer depends on what exactly you want to do. Yes, you can have IMS DC transaction and can fetch data from DB2 Table too.

Anuj

If you have a need to know then it probably happens already at your place so ask there. If it is a first time then your team lead should be giving you any infromation required.

It'd need some effort on your part (as nicc has indicated), at the moment. I'll try to post if I get something useful though in some time.
Thanks,
Anuj
