DSNDB06 and DSNDB07?

Post by Biden »

Hi,

Can anyone tell me what is DSNDB06 and DSNDB07?

what I read is that - DSNDB06 is DB2 catalog database and DSNDB07 is a work file database but contains no permanent data, and can be deleted and redefined with the new qualifier. But is this only what they are for? Or can there be more use of them?

To answer the "what" in your question - DSNDB06 is a DB2 system database that contains DB2's catalog. The DB2 catalog contains 22 table spaces that holds information describing the objects in DB2.

DSNDB07 - This is the area where sorting takes place in DB2. When you're using ORDER BY and GROUP BY in your SQL queries, this is part of DB2 which will come to play.

As an end-user or application developer, you'll probably never be bothered about how are these 'objects' of DB2 are configured, however I find this article insetting and possibly you might also like it: Click - search for DSNDB06.
Thanks,
Anuj
