Hi,
I recently read about the LONGVAR data type in DB2. I searched and looked about in the books in libraries to find some information about this data type. But most of the difintion suggest that this variable is character length and can have a length greater that 256. This is pretty much like the VARCHAR then how's it different than VARCHAR? Can it be used in COBOL programming while writing a COBOL DB2 program?
Thanks for your help on this.

Re: Usage of LONGVAR datatype in DB2.
I believe that it is obsolete and has been replaced by LOBs. Moreover, VARCHAR has a maximum length of 32,704 in DB2 V11.0.
