Job description: 

Role: 

This person will be responsible for tool-based migration of mainframe applications to distributed environment. The role will require a strong mainframe background that includes development, debugging, support, maintenance, and testing experience. 

Hands-on development experience with COBOL is essential, and familiarity with IBM mainframe environments, data structures, and languages is mandatory. Key tasks will include analysis, code and data conversion, batch and online testing, debugging and remediation. 


Required Skill Set 

• Experience in migrating mainframe applications to distributed environments 
• Knowledge of MicroFocus Enterprise product suite 
• COBOL hands-on experience 
• Online development using CICS 
• Hands-on experience in IBM mainframe environments – JCL, PROCS, TSO/ISPF 
• Hands-on experience in IBM data structures – Sequential Files, VSAM, GDG 
• Knowledge of relation database – DB2, SQL 
• Translate business requirements into technical specifications and application code 
• Perform unit/system testing - ensure that the programs perform according to program specifications 
• Ability to work with geographically dispersed teams 
• Mentor and coach team members on technical aspects 
• Strong written and verbal communication skills 

Suggested Skill Set 

• Knowledge of SAS, Eazytrieve 
• Knowledge of third party databases – IAM 
• Knowledge of scripting – REXX, PowerShell 
• Familiarity with .Net 
• Perform unit testing ensuring that the programs perform according to program specifications 
• Ability to review and understand user documentation describing the installation, use, and customization of products and services as necessary 
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem solving skills 
• Detail oriented, multi-tasking, self-starter with strong interpersonal skills
