Role's Responsibility:
The Platform Developer is accountable to the Platform Delivery Manager for the Design and development of the software components within the project scope, ensuring quality, timeliness and cost effectiveness in order to support the high performance delivery of change projects within Risk, Decision and Collections. 

Key Accountabilities and Skills required:

The role demands involvement in the software development lifecycle from software design through to handover of tested code to the to the deployment team. 

• She/ he will both design and develop software/ product (typically the more complex elements) , and will/ may also manage a team of software developers who will undertake software design and development tasks under the guidance and direction of the lead. 
• She/ he will build and maintain expertise in their specialist software development language (and associated development tools / techniques) , and will maintain expert knowledge of the applications for which they have on- going development responsibility. Design: 

• As part of the delivery of business change, the Technical expert will lead and coach a team (where required) of Platform Developers to: 
• Provide support to business design and business analysis functions on projects 
• Oversee the delivery of pragmatic business and operational design solutions which maximize benefits while achieving the desired business outcomes 
• Assess and design new business change processes, systems, products and services on a change project 

Plan Change: 

• Ensure all governance, risk management, controls and compliance requirements are considered during development of requirements and designs 

Manage Change: 

• Develop and implement new business change processes, systems, products and services on a change project. Provide an aggregate high level view of the combined proposed solutions and ensure alignment with the change solution. 

Organisational and Staff Development 

Coach and mentor 1- 5 Platform Developers on the skills and capabilities required by high performing change professionals 

• Manage and provide objective feedback on Platform Business Analysts during each project assignment 
• Conduct performance reviews and oversee career management (where applicable) 

Personal & Professional Development 

Use the Barclays Training portal to accelerate and maintain skills level, particularly the development of professional change skill sets 

• Use the bank standard management, change management toolkit and project management toolkit to plan and deliver change projects 

Control Objective 

• Understand the appropriate Policies & Standards applicable to my role through reading the Code of Conduct and other training allocated to me. Where responsible for risks and controls ensure that these are appropriate and fit for purpose. 
• Stakeholder management and leadership. 
• Developing internal and external business relationships and using own knowledge, skills and experience to influence others opinions and actions 
• Coach and mentor 1- 3 Platform Developers on the skills and capabilities required by high performing change professionals 
• Provide specialist, objective and analytical insight on all business design and analysis related activity on a change project. Lead / contribute (as appropriate) to Project, Program and Cluster level Design Authorities. 

• Decision making and problem solving. 
• She/ he should have sound commercial judgment and overall understanding of the Financial Services Industry, particularly the business impact of the regulatory environment. 
• Should be able to understand and manage interdependencies across projects/ programmes and leverage synergies across projects/ programmes to maximise return on investment. Review the to- be business process design to understand organisation/ role impacts and create role descriptions for business process roles. Able to conceive original and practical solutions to complex and business critical problems 
• Understand at a high level the interface between complex business needs and the complex legal and regulatory environment in which the business operates 
• Ability to juggle priorities, multi- task and flawlessly execute at speed 

Risk and Control: All Barclays colleagues have to ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards 

Your Skills and Qualifications will include 

• Relevant experience with team & stakeholder management skills. 
• Existing knowledge and strong hands on experience on TRIAD platform. 
• Working experience on interfaces 'to' and 'from' TRIAD system. 
• Experience on mainframe technologies and tools (JCL; COBOL; DB2; MQ; VSAM; ENDEVOR ; CICS; FILEAID; EZYTRIEVE; REXX etc.) 
• Preferred - Requirement gathering and design experience for risk and fraud applications. 
• Preferred - Work experience on Blaze advisor and TRIAD PCTMS. 
• Understanding of business specific terminologies related to Credit Risk (delinquency , over limit etc) 
• Preferred - Work experience on File Transfer mechanisms like connect- direct or AXWAY. 
• Understand significance of Credit Risk management in customer management. 
• Preferred - Knowledge of Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment. Ability to work with an existing body of code (maintenance, feature additions, debugging, etc)
