Job Description:
Storage Engineer (IBM storage) on Linux
CTG is currently seeking a Storage Engineer with demonstrated experience with IBM Storage in support of Oracle databases on Linux.
The opportunity is very long term and likely multiple years. Incumbent has been on the project 5+ years.
Location is Redwood City, CA or Foster City, CA. The client is open to a mix of onsite and remote support. Likely 2 days required on site and 3 days can be supported remotely.
Responsibilities:
The Storage Engineer will be responsible to architect, plan and implement the storage used by Oracle for product releases and by IBM for testing and certifications of Oracle products. Storage engineer will be implementing IBM storage for Linux.
Following are the hands on responsibilities:
[ol][li]Proactively partner with Oracle to plan the storage requirements for Oracle product deliveries.[/li]
[li]Collaborate with IBM team to create storage systems that can be used for projects to generate collateral that presents a value proposition for Oracle on IBM systems with IBM Storage. This will include implementing these projects.[/li]
[li]Strong verbal, written communications and teamwork skills.[/li]
[li]Ability to work well in a matrix environment and a strong understanding and responsiveness to execute the IBM defined priorities within that environment.[/li]
[li]Ability to execute storage performance and cost analysis for technical projects and benchmarks and sizing (can analyze Oracle’s AWR reports for storage recommendations)[/li][/ol]
[ul][li]Assists the IBM enablement team with analysis when field queries occur[/li]
[li]Advises on new storage requests SRMs make for Oracle[/li]
[li]Assists ST and Apps engineers with technical queries[/li]
[li]Storage System engineer duties for storage includes:
[ul]
[li]Managing the fibre channel switches[/li]
[li]Configuring disks for optimum size and use[/li]
[li]Cabling the installed HW for multipathing[/li]
[li]Installing device drivers to access the SAN[/li]
[li]Setting up IPs for storage devices so they are accessible for maintenance[/li]
[li]Updating firmware[/li]
[li]Replacing failed disks[/li][/ul]
[/li]
