The Senior Mainframe Hardware Infrastructure Architect participates in translation of the client's business requirements into specific system, application or process designs. This includes working as a team member with client personnel to identify functional requirements and subsequently working with or in some instances leading others in the identification, justification and design of the client's solution.

o They participate in a wide range of design activities, from requirements analysis through systems, application and/or process design specification.
o This position requires knowledge across multiple mainframe components, processes, and architectures.
o In addition, this position includes the following:
· Provides subject matter expertise in the implementation of account technical direction
· Provides leadership and quality assurance for the implementation of mainframe technology strategy architecture/ issues/ plans/ solutions;
· Provides planning input and reviews configuration implementation to ensure technical accuracy and meets contractual technical objectives;
· Provides hardware capital planning management through Fall Plan, Quarterly Plans, and expedited order processes.
· Designs and produces detail level hardware solutions (configurations) with a high level of complexity for CPU, DASD, TAPE etc.
· Provides input to business cases and builds eConfigs;
· Interfaces with Asset Management to ensure technical accuracy of hardware orders;
· Performs project management of small to medium hardware projects; Develops cost-savings ideas and opportunities, exploits technology offerings;
· Provides technical assistance for critical situations and problem determination;
· Supports steady state accounts, engagements, and transitions, and participates in due diligence on occasion.

Mainframe Infrastructure Hardware Architect Tasks/Responsibilities:
1) Work with customers to move to newer technologies
2) Team with all delivery support teams on customer engagements in developing a hardware technical solution.
3) Team with all delivery support teams on hardware transitions e.g. scheduling, technical support and implementation.
4) Develop and solution mainframe hardware plan for customer requirements e.g. growth to existing, technology refresh for upcoming year
5) Initiate Fall Plan Mainframe Process
6) Generate and submit mainframe fall plan documentation.
7) Submit Fall Plan, Unforecasted & Quarterly WWCT(IGS-US Capital, Order and Expense Requests) Requests
8) Acquire Approvals via the current Capital Process Pre-WWCT(SOSpending Mtg, Sector Approvals, ect.)
9) Submit Hardware Order Requests (OrderNow ON e-Req replacement)
10) Submit CMWR (Configuration Management Work Requests)
11) Define hardware requirements for customer request
12) Recommend equipment types
13) Generate e-configs / syslinks input for mainframe hardware for costs and ordering process.
14) Request COFA pricing for all CPUs
15) Submit Software Oder Requests(OrderNow US Software; Softreq replacement) for software costs when no PM is assigned to the task and when doing What If Sizings
16) Initiate and submit capital approval process document via WWCT for mainframe hardware (planned or unplanned)
17) Track and follow-up on mainframe hardware capital approval process.
18) Communicate Hardware requirements via WWCT to initiate all HW orders.
19) Follow up mainframe hardware order for delivery date and or escalation when needed.
20) Develop, document and schedule hardware installation plan.
21) Submit SpacePlan/ELE for all equipment(adds/disco’s/mes’s) for floorspace and power requirements
22) Provide technical information required to complete installation of mainframe hardware
23) Interface with Asset Management via MDLB process to insure accurate hardware maintenance, removal, and redeployment, non-Central Receiving Sites require special processing and will need to work with Account Team for contacts and site specific rules .
24) When Installing/Decommission a z/Series with an HMC, follow HMC Strategy
25) Ensure SA&D Process Approvals are had prior to installation/decommission of z/Series and HMCs
26) Facilitate regular meetings as needed to discuss issues, current inventory, plans for upcoming projects, new technology, and future directions.
27) Coordinate the Work Effort of Small type Projects: ex. Adding/Deleting of Channels, OSA cards, Coupling Links, DASD Unit(s), Tape Drives, Directors.
28) Coordinate the Work Effort of Medium type Projects: ex. Adding/Deleting MIPS(Microcode Only), Memory; Installation of New Technology; Adding/Deleting/Reconfiguring existing DASD; CPU/Tape/DASD/Director Consolidations; Installation/MES of ATL/VTS; CPU Upgrade/Downgrade (Physical Hardware change)
29) Initiate Systems Assurance for New Technology(some new hardware requires a pre-systems assurance for hardware orders to be fulfilled)
30) Lead teams that consist of members from different SSO Competencies, to successfully implement Hardware Projects.
31) Evaluate Environments when new Hardware is going for any other Hardware impacts do to the new H/W install.
32) Manage the implementation of CPU Related changes, adding engines, storage, moving lpars, push/pulls, consolidation of multi-machines
33) Coordinate the Work Effort of New Technology
34) Coordinate the Work Effort of DASD Consolidation
35) Coordinate the Work Effort of LPAR Creation, LPAR Merging
36) Coordinate the Work Effort of additional DASD on a Customer, Removing Old DASD from a H/W perspective
37) Coordinate the Work Effort for consolidation of Tape Drives, Removing no longer needed Drives or Tape Libraries
38) Coordinate the Work Effort of adding Additional Channels to an I/O Device
39) Coordinate the Work Effort of adding Additional CTCs
40) Work with Automations on the migration of Primary and Alternate Console Hardware Support, IBM Tivoli SA IOM(System Automation for Intergrated Operations Management…..Old AFRemote)
41) Work with AT&T on Installation, Removal of Network Hardware in relation to Mainframe Equipment. (eCEP, Cables, Padsmart)
42) May do some or all of the following Tasks for Small-Medium Projects or Medium to Large Projects when a Project Manager is not assigned.

(d) Regular Project Mtgs
(e) Meeting Minutes
(f) Creation of Taskplans
(g) Creation of Implementation Timeline(s)
(h) Open Quorum line during Implementation Window

for a job offering with such a wide and complex range of responsibilities
a hint about the rank in the organisation and the salary range would have been welcome

people might get pissed to spend time refreshing properly their CV to find out that the salary could be just peanuts

When I tell somebody to RTFM or STFW I usually have the page open in another tab/window of my browser,
so that I am sure that the information requested can be reached with a very small effort 8-)
