Upgrading z/VM Systems from V5R4 to V6R3

Post by Joshua » Sat Mar 14, 2015 5:49 am

Greetings, I have installed z/VM Systems V6R3 in SSI and non-ssi modes from scratch and been supporting z/VM System for a year and I feel comfortable in supporting it and resolving problems but the only thing, which I have never done is upgrading our Existing Systems from V5R4 to V6R3.

Are there any Good materials that would help me in understanding the Upgrade process or any advise you can provide would be greatly appreciate it.

Any information or Good Manuals or Documentation would be greatly appreciate it and if you happen to have any In-House documentation for Beginners to Upgrade then would appreciate it as well.

Thank you in advance.

the mother of knowledge for all the IBM products are the IBM manuals ...

You can start from ...
click on the usual terms and conditions mumbo jumbo

tp land to to ...
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/knowledge ... nfoc03.htm
proceed to ...
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/knowledge ... vminst.htm
and to ...
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/knowledge ... stract.htm

When I tell somebody to RTFM or STFW I usually have the page open in another tab/window of my browser,
so that I am sure that the information requested can be reached with a very small effort 8-)
