Walmart remains a family-owned business, as the company is controlled by the Walton family, who own a 48 percent stake in Walmart. It is also one of the world's most valuable companies.

The Walmart U.S. segment includes the Company’s mass merchant concept under the Walmart or Wal-Mart brand, as well as walmart.com. The Walmart International segment consists of the Company’s operations outside of the United States.
