is a term in use everywhere ...

You have something ...
You build a new something as an evolution/whatever of the previous/old something

people complain because they cannot afford the new something
then You devise/build/sell/distribute a RETROFIT ...
a set of modifications so that the previous/old something behaves/looks more like the new something

naturally the old and the new must have enough thing in common to make the retrofit viable

a synonym could be ( more IT jargon ) BACKPORT
cheers

When I tell somebody to RTFM or STFW I usually have the page open in another tab/window of my browser,
so that I am sure that the information requested can be reached with a very small effort 8-)

Retrofit is more used/said in the below

1.Program A is currently in prod.
2.For Project X : Program A is changed and is in UAT level
3.For Project Y: Program A is changed and is in SYSTEST Level

Business now on a fine monday morning they say I want Project Y to go first

Since Project Y needs to go first it is mandatory to retrofit the changes of Project Y to Project X.
