Use date as qualifier.

Post by Ajit Shah »

Hi,

I have two JCLS. After submitting the JCL1, if the return code is 4 then JCL2 needs to be submitted. Actualy once JCL1 step is submitted a data set name with the current date, as one of its qualifier should get created as the output. Because this is for test, I can take care of the first requirement, but for getting the data as a qulalifer I'm not sure what to do. Can someone please help. Someone has told to use FileAid but I do not find a googd example for it. Can someone please help.

In production your scheduling system can provide that information but...what if job 1 runs before midnight and job2 is submitted after midnight? LRemember, also, that all parts of the data set name must begin with a character - digits not allowed.
Your better bet is to use a gdg.
