Ceration of mainframe IDs.

Hi,

I have observed that in my company it took them too long to create my mainframe ID. We are an Indian MNC. I have confirmed from other friedns of mine too, who are in other companies. It seem to take long for them too. Why creation of mainframe ID takes a so long time for comapnies? Is there a specific reason?

It's probably procedural delays, not processing delays. Creating a mainframe ID has been automated in z/OS Management Facility. There are multiple steps, but they won't take more than a few hours at most to complete. Anything longer than a day or two for mainframe ID creation means the procedures are slowing down the ID creation. This is not necessarily bad as you want your ID to have the authority to do what you need to do, and it can take time to identify which groups you need to be a member of (if your site uses RACF).
