Question on BIND error.

Post by Avaneet Naina »

In couple of interviews I was asked What is Bind Error? I do not get the meaning of this question, are they really talking about SQL CODE -805 always or there is something else. When I inquire the same thing in the interview, they say you are supposed to answer that. Can some one please clarify this to me.

Did you find out if they meant Bind as in SQL or Bind as in the replacement for the link-editor?

A "bind error", to my mind, is anything that causes a bind to be unsuccessful. There are many causes besides contoken mismatch; the two I've seen most frequently are missing DBRMs and invalid tokens (e.g., a reference to a non-existent column).
