once upon a time IBM started prefixing the data management product name with
the acronym of Data Facility

DFEF Data Facility Extended Functions
DFP Data Facility Product

DFSORT
DFSMS
DFHSM
DFDSF
DFDSS

later on some of the names were changed to include also sms into it
DFsmsDSS
DFsmsDSF
cheers

When I tell somebody to RTFM or STFW I usually have the page open in another tab/window of my browser,
so that I am sure that the information requested can be reached with a very small effort 8-)

I would suspect Data Facility, but I am not sure if that was retrofitted to the name or if DF always meant that for the Sort product.
