Create a job which can detect delay in other jobs.

Hi:

Is there a possibility to create a job which can detect delay in other jobs? And schedule this job in CA-7? Basically this this job should abend or send a notification email when the given jobs are not running per their time and are late?

Is there some specific way to call such jobs? I am not sure but mainframes are very old than such a facility should readily exist, I wonder it is not there!

if properly setup any job scheduler will provide that ,
no need to reinvent the wheel

There is already a product (actually, there are several such products on the market) out there to do this -- it is called CA-7. Why are you not using the facilities of CA-7 instead of wanting to invent your own job scheduler?

Operations support should handle the exceptions.
sending emails will just be a waste of time for everybody.
jobs delays should be handled with a fast response time , and emails are known for not satisfying the need ( fast response time )

If your site has CA-7 set up correctly, it is able to send emails.
