Post by Kishor Sonawane »

Hi,

If I need to copy a COBOL program from TSO to notepad, how can I do that. I need it for analysis.

When I tell somebody to RTFM or STFW I usually have the page open in another tab/window of my browser,
so that I am sure that the information requested can be reached with a very small effort 8-)

If you are copying COBOL source to Notepad on a PC, you need to be aware that copy books will not be copied unless you do it yourself. This is one of those cases where you simply MUST consult your site support group on whether or not what you want to do is allowed at your site, and if it is allowed how to copy the COBOL source (including copy books) to the PC.

from a legal point of view YOU ARE STEALING ...
what You develop on Your employer time and ( stronger ) on Your employer equipment
belong to Your employer ...

so ... beware of the unpleasant consequences

Holy crap, the guy may have some PC only software that goes through code to detect problems. It's not like he's putting in a USB stick and taking home the code.

Hell, when I left Willis in 1996 and asked if I could take copies of some of the REXX code I wrote in the five years that I worked there, the now retired chief-programmer told me, "Nice that you ask, but we'd be surprised if you hadn't already copied them!"

And then there is PrintScreen... who the flipping' ell is going to stop anyone from using it, or from taking pictures of their screen using their 42 exapixel smartphone.

And if someone happens to have eidetic memory?
