Site Update 11: Visit counter added.

Hi,

You'll notice a "visit(s)" counter on the right top side of the "Welcome Box" on Index page. It's a counter which captures the visits based on the IP address of the user.

I've added it yesterday after noon IST, so the visits we see are from 26[sup]th[/sup] November some time after noon.

I'm trying to get that going; as of now it's on list. I'll try to get it as soon as I get some time on hands - but there is no ETA at the moment...

LOL. Actually, I tried to do that some time back but in haste I broke the board and the Forum was down for around 2-3 days... .

Also the concepts of "unique visits", in php, works on a very poor logic. According to that - if you visit one topic of this site -- that's one visit. You go to another topic/page - that's second visit and so on. So "unique visits" gives a false impression of number-of-users coming to your site. On the other hand, the counter which we have now here, works on unique IP Address. You visit one page or all the pages of this site - your IP is same and so that count is only one!

Said alll that, I'll still like to have it on board. Actually, apart from that I need to work on a number of things, for thi sboard, which I've as aideas as of now, actually I'm the only active admin at the moment so I said it can take time.

As an Admin, yes I can and I've to. Why do I need the IP? - well, spammers are not very kind and when they attack at your site - IP addresses come handy then. This can be one of the examples among many other.

For a long time I was thinking why did not you add this, but better later than never - it looks good. Though as a guest it's position is different, delibrate?
