Change all command in ISPF for a really long string.

Post by Sharad Vijay »

Hi,

Is there any way to use 'Change all' command in ISPF for a really long string?

Actually the two strings tales up more space than the available one on the command line. And so I could not change the intended string in single go. This time, I have changed the strings in multiple pieces and changed it to get my work done but there should be a way to do it in a single go and perhaps better one. Could anybody please help me with such a command, if there is any.

Given that you admit to exhausting the available space for typing, how do you feel you'd be able to do it "in a single go"?

Use F(ind) for your first "really long string".

Then C(hange) * "your other really long string" all

If you don't have space for "all", then do the change without the "all" and then do a second change of "* * all".

That did it. I did not * can be so powerful. What are other such commands? Are they available somewhere?

There is a wealth of information in the Help system. Press PF1. Do a bit at a time, there's a lot there. Practice with it. The editor is really powerful. The way I discovered its power is the way I just described.

There are manuals as well :-)
