How to find that last reference date of a VSAM dataset?

Post by Nitin Jain »

Hi,

Is there a way to find the last reference date of a VSAM dataset? Possibly SMF data and/or DCollect will help here, but apart from them is there any way out?

I tried with LISTCAT but LISTCAT does not display last reference date and as a programmer I do not have access to SMF or DCOLL data. So what can I do? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

When I tell somebody to RTFM or STFW I usually have the page open in another tab/window of my browser,
so that I am sure that the information requested can be reached with a very small effort 8-)

Site suppport is not that friendly. They need a business justification for that, as this department is with different vendor and we as competitor won't get this easily and have to it all our own. So there is just no other way round?

I do not see why You should be seen as a competitor

use the reference date from a plain ispf 3.4
the referenced date is not there for the CLUSTER.
but is there for the DATA and INDEX components
cheers

Well, that's a nasty game of outsourcing!

Thanks for the pointers, I start from there.
