What happens to alternate index if VSAM is loaded with new data?

Post by Chandan Roy »

Hi,

I am replacing the data in a VSAM file with new data for testing. I shall be using IDCAMS REPRO and it will load the data in the VSAM file. This VSAM file has alternate index defined for it. for alternate index , do I need to do anything special in order it to reflect the new data? Or will it be done automatically once the VSAM is loaded with new data? Please advise.

Is the alternate index in the upgrade set?  If so then the updates happen automatically  If not, then you have to delete and build the alternate index again.
