Confusion on the primary space allocation of VSAM.

Post by Priyank Chopra »

Hello all,

Some VSAM files have a primary allocation of 400 cylinders. Secondary of 450 cylinders. When I ran a LISTCAT on these VSAMS, primary extent displayed in LISTCAT, shows 12000 for primary, secondary extents are 6750 tracks which is correct for 450 cylinders. Can someone tell my why this might happen? Datasets are SMS managed.

Thanks

When I tell somebody to RTFM or STFW I usually have the page open in another tab/window of my browser,
so that I am sure that the information requested can be reached with a very small effort 8-)
