Can we call Easytrieve program from COBOL?

Post by santaj »

Hi,

Does anyone know how to call Easytrieve from COBOL?

If you can tell me how to convert Easytrieve program to COBOL, it will also help. If there is a tool/utility to do that?

Thanks,

When I tell somebody to RTFM or STFW I usually have the page open in another tab/window of my browser,
so that I am sure that the information requested can be reached with a very small effort 8-)

If you search-engine for it, you'll find a product or two to do the conversion. You could try search-engineing for the CALL as well, but the answer will be No. Unless it can be done from 11 onwards, which you would discover.

Why would it be surprising? It was not designed to be CALLed from anywhere, so why would you think it would just up and work if it were not documented to do so?

I made two mistakes. First I was looking at this post https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/comm ... 0014509304 from developerworks which is on "Calling COBOL from Easytrieve in AIX" thoug in AIX but I assumed (wrongly) that we can do opposite. Second mistake is it's about AIX and I mixed it with zOS...

Sorry for the inconvenience
