FTP a PDS using REXX.

Hi, For a requirement I need to get the members of a PDS on my PC. $INDSFILE is not that helpful. I thought of using FTP but I might need to do this multiple times, so I am thinking if this can be done using REXX. I am not sure how can we do it with REXX, if someone can suggest something on this it ...

Join query versus Sub query.

Is there a way to tell that for what kind of queries a join is recommended and when a sub query is recommended? Is there some stated rule or a way to determine this?

Please let me know your thoughts.

Re: heap storage control information was damaged, 4038 abend.

It is actually a tricky one. We have taken our changes back to teh test resion and are investigating on all the posibilities but looks it will take time to get resolution.

Does anyone of you have more suggestions to tell what else can we do rectify this error?

GNU COBOL compiler and the zOS COBOL complier. GNU wins?

BPXWDYN vs PUTENV.

Hi, Which one of these two BPXWDYN and PUTENV is good? I read about PUTENV like this: The call using PUTENV is static. You MUST compile the program with NODYNAM compiler option. If you don't then you will have abends like S0C1. The PUTENV by itself is only a stub to the routine in SCEERUN, not a com...
