Separate production data from test data. Standard practice.

Make friends with people in those groups and learn from chatting with them. Read overviews, manuals. When a vacancy comes up - apply. It was a few years ago and I cannot find it under my current ID (and I forget what my previous one was!). At the time you said you would look at it but, obviously, more important things got in the way1

I did look - it was not there. It is now but I have not tested it - have to wait until there is a post in a forum that I do not read - "count to a million", "where did you find us", "it news" etc

Before the change it was possible to mark all forums read from a link on the index page. This has disappeared which means that I now have to visit each forum in question to mark it read. Can that link be resored to the index page, please?

Yes there are resources to learn something about the subject. Try Google with your topic title and add ERP for good measure.

What is literal pool?
You could have found the answer by using fewer keystrokes than you used to ask the question. Google 'literal pool cobol'.

The download page shows it as 0 bytes instead of 3.5mb. It also shows it as a zip file (and it cannot be opened in Win 10).

Is there a reason not to use IEBGENER? ICEGENER has a performance advantage, so I understand, but that would probably only be apparent when dealing with very large amounts of data. But IEBGENER has been the principle copy program for sequential data sets around the world for 50 years.

OK. Works now but... files should be data sets. Under zOS and its predecessors data is kept in data sets hence DSN= (or DSNAME=). And for a straight copy job IEBGENER or ICEGENER should be used. I believe DFSORT will invoke ICEGENER anyway for that sort of copy but why not give a little assist to th...
