Unless deleting and redefining the data set is acceptable, JCL cannot do what you want. I would use ISPF services, but some of the other sempai may have better suggestions.

JCL cannot do what you ask, as it only establishes environments and executes programs. I recommend using your shop's sort product.

There is no way of doing it with JCL, as JCL does nothing but establish environments and execute programs. I recommend that you look at the LMMREN ISPF service.

Why not just do a read on it and, if you do not get an EOF condition, check if the record has a non-space in it?

Incorrect; if you enlarge PDS Details.png, you will see that the data set is explicitly stated to be DSORG=PO.vikriih wrote:TEST.TS.A.CNTL is a Sequencial data and not a PDS..it needs to be a PDS to have a member JCL

There doesn't seem to be a link to the IBM Knowledge Center or individual manuals (at least, I can't find them). Given the number of instances where the answer to a question is "Read the fine manual!", shouldn't such a link be provided for th benefit of querents?
