Is the instruction spelled correctly, I don't find any reference of in pdf of "Principles of Operations"?

Could someone please explain me if IBM DFSort, ICETOOL, ICEMAN, ICEGENER - are they just same? When to use what?

I've heard and used Tapes only in mainframes. Do we use them in other open system technologies too? If they are really cheap alternatives for DASD why it is not that popular with other technologies?
