Why only 16 registers in MVS?

It might sound too basic but I don't fnd a good explnation on this. The question is, why there is a constraint on the number of registers,16, in MVS?

Timestamp without using a language in JCL.

Hi,

I'm looking for the suggestion using which I can create create a member with the system-Date and the Time. I can not use ICETOOL. Can I use some other utility to do this?
The date and time should be in yymmdd and hh:mm formats respectively.

Thanks for any help on this.
