Re: Creating alist of dataset as per mainframe IDs.

14489 The meme brings to my mind a question -- the original post was about cost savings. How, exactly, will generating a list of data sets created by each user id lead to savings? And since user id data sets tend to be a small percentage of the total disk space used, is this "cost savings"...

Re: Calculate the number of cylinders required for given records of file?

It was LRECL=80 and FB.

Downloaded that file and it talks about geometry. Should we be knowing the geometry of the DASD too while calculating the cylinders??

Hi,

I have a file having 70,000 records. How can I calculate how many cylinders of storage will it take? Any guide on that would help.

Re: LU6.2?

Thansk a lot enrico and Robert. so LU and protocol can be used for each other. I asked that because protocol looks like a set of software rules while LU is physical entity...but they seem to be used an synonyms in the manuals.

Please don't post it in any part of the Forum, a moderator can move it for you (as done by Enrico here).
Ok anuj, I won't do that.

LU6.2?

What is the significance behindthe LU6.2? I mean, I try to understand the name. From manual I read that it's a communication protocol but if it's protocol why it's called as Logical unit? And what is 6.2? There are not much details on that. Can soemone please clarify what they might mean?

Re: Creating alist of dataset as per mainframe IDs.

14277 ISPF 3.4 will do it, if you have a list of the user ids or if there is a pool of disk volumes for user data sets. DCOLLECT will do it but will require manipulation of the output to remove non-user id data sets (unless there is a pool of disk volumes). Can we save the list shown in the ISPF 3.4?

Creating alist of dataset as per mainframe IDs.

Hello All, In my office we are doing a "cost saving" activity. One of the activity which came to me is like that employees here can create new dataset using their mainframe IDs; I have to create the list of all such datasets. If any one have any example using which it can become easy pleas...
