DB2Explain the effects of using CURSOR WITH HOLD with GROUP BY and ORDER BY clauses in your queries.
I think we can not use GROUP BY and ORDER BY in the same cursor?

Re: How to get top 5 rows from table thru SQL?

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I want to test the query in SPUFI and QMF and later use the query in COBOL program.

Re: OS390 versus zOS.

Thanks.

I have seen people using MVS also but not MFT or MVT. But as you said, IBM documents still use MVS, perhaps that makes to use it.

OS390 versus zOS.

Hi,

My question is perhaps offtopic but this has been haunting me. What is more appropriate to use between OS390 versus zOS? I have seen people are using these terms, usually, interchangibly. Is not it that OS390 is among the initial releases of the operating system? And it's zOS now.

Re: Solving SQLCODE= -303.

The result of the function YEAR should be large integer (S9(09) COMP) and should be defined as binary of 4 bytes. Change the host variable definition and see if it works. And if it does, you should read back what Enrico has said initially and you'll realize that you had the answer right there. :) T...

Robert Sample wrote:It can make a big difference!  If you want to know the return code of the program you ran in TSO, you CANNOT use IKJEFT01!  And if you get an ABEND, you will see the difference between IKJEFT1A and IKJEFT1B in the ABEND code you get.
hmmm,,ok Thanks.

LISTDSI in z/OS 2.1.

Hi - From manuals and some tests, I have checked that in z/OS 2.1 a PDSE can be of two different types - type 1 or 2. Manual  gives information about DSINFO and it has been enhanced to set the variable, ZDSDSNV, to indicate if the PDSE is version 1 or 2. But I don't find a similar variable for LISTD...

Re: What is the difference between IKJEFT1A and IKJEFT01 in JCL and DB2.

Thanks all for explanation. I did look at the documentation before posting it here. I should have told about that. But the documentation does not say if IKJEFT1A is better, bad, good or something else when used in place of IKJEFT01 for a DB2 Job. Or there is just no difference as long as we are usin...

What is the difference between IKJEFT1A and IKJEFT01 in JCL and DB2.

Hi,

I have seen JCLs for DB2 making use of IKJEFT1A and IKJEFT01 both. I have mostly used the JCLs using IKJEFT01 but not IKJEFT1A. What is that used for? Does it improve on efficiency?

The corresponding host variables are PIC X() The problem is my program abends at the FETCH statement with a SQL CODE OF -303. How do I corre...
