Re: GDG and PDS.

I can see a use for PDS generations -- there is a daily process that generates files on a server. Those files are transferred via FTP to the mainframe for updating a DB2 data base. If the file names meet PDS member name standards, I could see using a PDS generation to hold each day's data in case o...

GDG and PDS.

Hi,

I always thought that GDGs are applicable to flat files only but I have also just seen GDGs for PDS too. When do we use GDG for PDS?

I had also noticed that we cannot specify a member name and a relative GDG number at the same time, is it correct or I got it wrong?

It did not give much information.. for example: https://www.google.co.in/webhp?sourceid ... in%20india

I have done some more searches also. Most of them talk about conferences abroad.

Re: Re-entrant programs.

Batch programs need to be re-entrant if they are pre-loaded in IMS, if they run under Unix System Services, if they are DB2 stored procedures, if they need DLL support or use object-oriented syntax.  Otherwise, they can be re-entrant or not.  Also, programs compiled with NORENT must be RMODE 24 so ...

Re: Re-entrant programs.

Thanks Robert. But for other programs, like batch programs, why there is a need of being re-entrant?

Compiler option for warning if para is not accessed.

Hi, In a COBOL program there is a paragraph which can not be accessed inside the progam. Basically it's a redundant code. Is there a compiler option with Enterprise COBOL which warns the programmer if a paragraph can not be accessed in the program? I seem to recall there was one but not what was it....
