Re: PSB scheduling.

I am new at this place. Just helping the people in charge. The lead programmer for this told us this. So may be his understanding is not correct but that's how it worked. May be he is missed something else to look at but this is what we are told.

Re: IKJ56718A REENTER THIS OPERAND+.

Removing is an option if I do it correct at the first time but the mistake has already been done and now keep on getting this message until someone purges my ID or my session is logged off.

Re: Fetch XML data and place in excel.

The file with XML data is a dataset on mainframes. That's why I thought it's a mainframe issue.

IKJ56718A REENTER THIS OPERAND+.

Hi, How can we get rid of the message "IKJ56718A REENTER THIS OPERAND+"? In a PDS, in front of the member I put "CO" mistakenly instead of "C" and this message started showing up. I used "Quit", "Exit", "Bye" and "logoff" but noth...

PSB scheduling.

Hi, I need help to understand the "PSB scheduling". Why it is called as "scheduling" as that's kind of misleading. "Scheduling" sounds like a scheduler kind of an activity but it is not. Actually, we got ADCA abend in one of the program in prod while the same program wo...

But if we need to transfer the data from mainframe to distributed environment having only MQ set-up in place will work?

But is not allocating SYSOUT using SELECT is different than allocating a DD name dynamically?

Would you use XML or MQ to transfer the data ?

Assuming that we have a set-up in which the front end is written in .Net and the backend is having VSAM files. Now for a real time interaction at the front end what is required as a set-up? Would you use XML or MQ to transfer the data and why you chose your option? That was the question, can someone...

Re: Alocating SYSOUT dynamically in COBOL.

Your post is unclear; are you attempting to allocate to DD name SYSOUT, or are you trying to allocate a SYSOUT=<something>?  For the former, this quote from Enterprise COBOL V5.2 Programming Guide may be relevant: [font=serif]Two files should not use the same ddname or environment variable name in ...

Alocating SYSOUT dynamically in COBOL.

Hi,

Enterprise Cobol support dynamic allocation for files by using of an environment variable named with DDname and parameters for dataset for allocation. But if we try to allocate a SYSOUT, this raise an error IGZ0251W at run time. We can use BPXWDYN but can there be full COBOL approach for it?

Conversational Remote Job Entry in mainframes.

Hi,

What is Conversational Remote Job Entry in mainframes? On wiki, it is described as "it is a component of OS/360 and OS/VS1 that provides job submission, job retrieval and editing for a user at an interactive terminal." But if it is so then why don't we see it's use ?
